Guiding Each Student in the Discovery of His or Her Unique Strengths, Passion, and Calling…
While setting each student up for educational success beyond the confines of our campus is central to our purpose, our core concentration doesn’t begin and end with academics. Instead, we focus on the growth of the whole child – academically, socially and spiritually. It’s our goal to help them discover the best “them” they can be.
What sets Braselton Christian Academy apart from traditional schools are the teachers, staff, and students who work, fellowship, and attend school here AS WELL AS our willingness to accept children wherever they may be in their academic progress. Everyone at our school is answering a call that tells them THIS is the place to be. Just as Jesus Christ accepts us where we are when we come to him, BCA will accept your child where he or she is when they come to us.
“It all began with an understanding that there was a need for a school that accepted ALL children whether they learned in a traditional or nontraditional manner.”
Next came the desire and a vision to bring it to fruition. Penney Smith could not ignore the call to create BRASELTON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY. Armed with a coveted educational therapy license, Penney and her husband, Steve, (who is her strongest advocate) knew this was a journey they must make together although it was an uncertain path. Together, they stepped out in faith.
In 2009 the vision became a reality!! Braselton Christian Academy opened with very little capital, just six students, and a 1,500 square foot building. In a short time, enrollment grew to more than 30 students. That is when the school moved to a location near Chateau Elan which more than doubled the space. Enrollment continued to grow and the decision was made to pursue a highly sought after accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). It also became apparent that a bigger facility would soon be needed as well as additional staff and perhaps partners to help take the school to the next level.
December, 2013 turned out to be a pivotal time for Braselton Christian Academy as SACS awarded full accreditation and plans were made to move to a bigger location. Over the long weekend of January 18, 2014, the move was made to our current location at 401 Zion Church Road in Braselton. Here, Braselton Christian Academy has room to grow and continue to develop.
Mrs. Smith has always been in tune to the students who feel uncomfortable in their own skin or think outside the box that many traditional schools dictate. Her philosophy then and now is to focus on what a child CAN do and not on what a child cannot do. Success is based upon each individual student’s progress. Personalized experiences are tailored to fit the individual child no matter the challenges because God made them that way. This philosophy is evident throughout the school and is the backbone for our future success and continued growth. It is what makes Braselton Christian Academy different from other schools.
